2022 Lunaria Primitivo 'Ruminat' Terre di Chieti
Tasting Notes
Meet your new favorite everyday Italian red! This naturally made Primitivo has stunned everyone who has tasted it. Lighter and fruitier than the classic Primitivos of Puglia (which is farther south and warmer), this medium bodied fresh red shows off a veritable berry basket of a nose- blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and raspberries of all kinds- fresh, ripe and almost jammy. There are supporting tones of light herbs, spice and chocolate. Super smooth, with medium acidity and light, fine tannins. Lingers in the mouth. Pair with barbecue, roasted meats, or Korean short ribs.
About Lunaria
Lunaria was formed as a cooperative of 600 farmers in 1964, who all shared the same goal of conservation and a reverence for organic and biodynamic winemaking. This came in hand with the place - Majella National Park, one of the largest and most diverse parks in all of Italy. The farmers settled on this are to aid in their mission and have not looked back. Lunaria wines were launched several decades later and were meant to evoke the initial goals of these farmers in a fun and charming way. Production is now fully biodynamic whilst supplying a world market. Their focus is truly on a holistic approach in both vineyard and winery, with careful attention paid at each interval – from the inextricable link between pollinating bees & yeast, to the renewable material of wool, showcased in a delicate tie on each bottle made from sheep with whom they share the land.
